The CZ 70 was developed especially for police in former Czechoslovakia. CZ 70 was developed in Strakonice by Kratochvil brothers. Later was this type produced also in Uhersky Brod. This 7.65mm (.32 Auto) caliber pistol offers either single or double action. In 1970 CZ 70 replaced the version CZ 50 and became the standard sidearm of Czechoslovak armed forces and police until 1983.

About CZ 70

This type was developed especially for police in former Czechoslovakia. CZ 70 was developed in Strakonice by Kratochvil brothers. Later was this type produced also in Uhersky Brod. This 7.65mm (.32 Auto) caliber pistol offers either single or double action. In 1970 CZ 70 replaced the version CZ 50 and became the standard sidearm of Czechoslovak armed forces and police until 1983. During the period CZ 70 served quite reliable. Design of CZ 70 was based on the Walther PP with an fixed barrel and 8-round magazine capacity. CZ 70, often called Vzor-70 has a manual thumb safety on the left side of the frame. It has an exposed hammer and single or double action. Actually this pistol was based on the Walther PP and PPK. The trigger guard has a milling that was changed to a more blended merge with the frame, removing sharp angles. The model has also a new grip pattern utilizing a grid of dimples instead of grooves. The flat-faced, serrated trigger may irritate the finger a bit with repetitive use and the rear of the slide is razor sharp. The grips are usually made of molded plastic while the top of the slide is engraved with a fine wave pattern what reducing glare. On the slide under the ejection port is stamped a serial number. CZ 70 has a bit smaller magazine release than previous versions. The barrel is fixed to the frame in the same way like the Bersa Thunder pistols.
